What is Amazon Fresh?

Amazon Fresh is a grocery delivery and pickup service open only to Amazon Prime members. 

Amazon Fresh is similar to your typical grocery store, delivering perishable, shelf-stable and household products in everyday package sizes, available in select regions.

Amazon Fresh is typically available only to Prime members. However, Amazon is making Amazon Fresh selection available to customers who shop with a SNAP EBT card in eligible regions without Prime membership fees. To receive free delivery on Amazon Fresh orders, purchase $35 or more ($50 in select regions) of eligible items. You can also place a smaller order and pay a shipping fee. 

Your SNAP EBT card cannot be used to pay for the shipping fee if you do not meet the order minimum and you will need to provide an alternate form of payment. Can I add a tip to an Amazon Fresh order when I pay with SNAP EBT?

No. SNAP funds can only be used for select food items and cannot be used for fees or tips. Once an EBT card is attached to an Amazon Fresh order, the option to add a tip will be disabled.

Items You Can Buy With Amazon Fresh

The eligible food items you can buy using an EBT card include:

  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Poultry, meat, and fish
  • Breads
  • Cereals
  • Snack foods
  • Non-alcoholic beverages
  • Seeds and plants that produce food to eat

The non-eligible items you cannot buy with an EBT card include:

  • Any alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, liquor, etc.)
  • Tobacco and cigarettes
  • Vitamins, supplements, and medicines (if an item has supplement facts label on the packaging, it’s considered a supplement and not eligible to buy with an EBT card)
  • Live animals (except shellfish, fish that removed from the water, and animals slaughtered before buying at the store)
  • Prepared foods that are ready for consumption
  • Hot foods
  • Any non-food items (pet foods, cosmetics, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, paper products, and other household items)
